Ideas for your Cow!
Of course, you’re welcome to follow the pattern directions exactly, and you’ll get an adorable cow… but, you can also crochet a unique cow all of your own! Here are some ideas:
- Crochet a cow in your favorite color… cows don’t have to be white!
- Pick a bulky yarn (and crochet with a bigger hook) to make a jumbo cow!
- Use a sock-weight yarn and a size C hook to create an adorable mini-cow!
- Add a little something unique to your cow… maybe hearts instead of spots?
To crochet the cow that’s in the pattern, you’ll need 3 colors of worsted weight yarn: white (150 yards), black (50 yards) and tan (20 yards). You’ll also need a size H hook, a pair of 18mm brown eyes (mine are from Suncatcher Eyes), a tapestry needle and stuffing.
For bigger cows, you’ll need slightly more yarn… and less for smaller cows!
Wanna know what I’m doing?
I’ve made my share of white & black cows in my day… so I wanted to do something different. I heard a pile of leftovers calling my name…
That’s when it hit me… I need to make a rainbow cow!
Making a cow using leftover scraps is easy… when the pattern calls for white yarn, you just start using your scraps! I’m planning to stripe mine so he looks like a rainbow!
Are you in?
It’s going to be a blast… and I really hope you join us! Go ahead and leave me a comment… and tell me about your cow-rific plans!
